How Erebos works

Public rooms

Each public room retains only its last 100 messages. Empty community rooms expire after 10 minutes; official rooms remain available.

Private messages

Private messages are available only to their two participants. They are deleted when both participants disconnect or when the server restarts.

Private messages are encrypted at rest with Fernet. This is server-side encryption, not end-to-end encryption.

Privacy and media

No account or profile is required. A signed, HttpOnly session cookie keeps a browser session connected. Erebos does not write separate application logs by default.

External images, audio and video load only after an explicit click.
